Welcome to Sportsball!
I'm an avid sports fan and an active blogger but recently I haven't blogged about sports as it has always felt a bit out of place in my main blog. Every now and then however, I get an urge to write my thoughts on sports somewhere in longer form.
Over a decade ago, I wrote Toverikiekkoa blog about the local hockey team TuTo who played then and still play in Mestis, the 2nd highest level of Finnish hockey system. I was the nerd who watched the games with a notepad and a pocket camera, making notes of the game in the stands. But when life took me elsewhere to live and I didn't go to watch games in the arena that often, the blog simmered down.
What this blog will become, I don't have any plans. I'm expecting it to be more about general opinions on different sports related things rather than a live reporting of individual games like Toverikiekkoa was. But who knows: maybe starting this blog will create a spark to return to my old habits.
A few words about myself. I love all sports. I mainly enjoy ice hockey (Liiga, NHL, international hockey like EHT, IIHF World Championships and Olympics) and football (European leagues, UEFA Champions League, Olympics, UEFA Euros and FIFA World Cups) but whenever there's sports on telly and I'm able to watch it, I'll enjoy it no matter what sport or competition it is. I do follow NFL quite closely as well but I'm not as fully versed in all the small details as I am with hockey and football.
I have some favourite teams (go Pens, TUTO, TPS, Spurs and Seahawks!) but I'm first and foremost a fan of the sport. I tend to pick a favourite team for each match or competition I watch even if my main favourite isn't there but I usually prefer a loss in a good match over a win in crappy one and I can appreciate great performances regardless of who make them.
